Islam’s Approach To Non-Muslim

The rights of people who do not recognize or have not yet accepted Islam have been protected by Islamic law, which means Allah’s commands in the Qur’an and the practices of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). In situations that require co-existence in social life such as neighborhood, trade, any non-Muslim who is not a threat does not be treated in a way that will disturb them. Allah has considered human beings his interlocutor among all the creatures He created. In the Qur’an, regardless of the believer’s or non-believer’s distinction, all people are regarded as saints and representatives of Allah on earth.[1] However, man is a will-powered being. What makes him even superior to angels is his willpower. With this will, he chooses to believe or not to believe right or wrong. The verses of the Qur’an describe how relations with people who have not converted to Islam should be:

Allah strictly ordains it to every Muslim that

• Encouraging non-Muslims to do good, avoiding evil, and explaining Islam to them without forcing them to enter religion [2] [3]

• Even if his parents do not accept Islam, he treats them well, [4]

• Observing the rights of their neighbors, whether they are Muslim or not, [5]

• Treating non-Muslims who are not in a state of war with justice and kindness, [6]

• If a security agreement has been made with non-Muslims, it must be complied with, and their lives will not be harmed, [7]

• Even if a person does not believe, he should not be mistreated and treated with justice [8]

These examples have shown that according to the basic principles of the Qur’an and the practices of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), it is necessary to approach non-Muslims with peace and tolerance as long as they do not act hostile towards Muslims.
